Mayweather and Pacquiao will split the purse 60/40 in Mayweather’s favor. the fighters will earn $150 million Pretty Boy and $100 million Pac-Man , but those figures might be optimistic unless PPV buys go crazy. The fighters are more likely to earn $120 million and $80 million, respectively.

NFL Tax Exemption

Despite generating around $9 billion per year in revenue, the NFL does not pay taxes. It is listed as a no-for-profit organization pre Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code which exempts "business leagues, chambers of commerce, real estate boards, boards of trade, or professional football leagues (whether or not administering a pension fund for football players), not organized for profit … ." from taxes. The teams that conpose the NFL are viewed as separate, competing enteties that are organized by the League. While the League often brings in less money than it spends, the individuals profit greatly from year to year. Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, earned over $44 Million in salary last year, more than double the salary of the highest payed player in the NFL.

This video explains the newest development in the Aaron Hernandez case.  His fiancé, who allegedly disposed of the murder weapon, was granted immunity on Monday February 11th.  She now has to decided whether to answer questions regarding the incriminating evidence pointed against her or refuse to testify to protect her relationship with Hernandez.  However, if she refuses, she could be held contempt of court and has the possibility of going to jail.  ESPN officials following this case say that it will be dragged out of some time and this story make take some time to develop.

By granting her immunity, she cannot claim her fifth amendment rights because under immunity, she cannot incriminate herself so therefore she must share the information she has or face contempt of court.

NFL and Crime










Panthers player Greg Hardy was recently on trial for domestic abuse, but charges were dismissed despite a plethora of evidence when his ex-girlfriend, the accuser, failed to show up to court. She was afraid to testify against Hardy, so the two settled out of court. The NFL, however, intends to enforce player code of conduct punishments despite Hardy not being indicted by a federal court. The move by the NFL is unprecedented, as the out-of-court settlement has been a popular loophole among professional athletes. The NFL is sending a strong message in doing so: that no one is too popular, talented or famous to be indispensable, human rights come first. In the past few years, the NFL has come down hard on star players like Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson for similar crimes, both of which are currently without contracts despite stellar on-field play, and are taking heat for actions of Aaron Hernandez who may receive a life imprisonment sentence. The NFL is taking a stand in not enabling star players to live above the law and tarnish the reputation of the NFL as a reputable business entity.

Dear A-Rod, SORRY isn't good enough...

A-Rod the third baseman for the New York Yankees, was suspension for 211 games for alleged used of an illegal performance-enchancing substance back in 2013. Well, he is back for 2015 training camp and the Yankees owe him $64 million in guaranteed salary along with a so-called 'marketing bonuses' if he is able to tie Willie May's 660, Babe Ruth 714, or Hank Arrron 755. Each tie is worth $6 million for the home run milestones. The Yankees, on the other hand, don't accept his apologies, and aren’t interested in paying for his achievable bonuses. They now realize they are really playing with a 24 man roster and one very expensive benchwarmer (LOL). The club is planning on going to court with A-rod if he files a Grievance with the Supreme Court.  However, if the yankees try to avoid paying A-Rod his bonus(s) when they are due after having prior knowledge of the issue, A-Rod gives a legitimate reason to sue.
