The Right to Choose

Democracy is necessary in any strong government. Democracy gives the citizens the right to choose leaders that will represent their needs. Without this freedom countries are pron to dictatorships like Cuba and Iraq. Without democracy the voice of the people would never be heard. Their is a definite capability of evil in people and that is what makes democracy a necessity.

Democracy for the Good and Evil

I also agree that the capacity of people for good makes democracy desirable while their capacity for evil makes democracy necessary. It’s desired for the people that believe in it and it then keeps the people against it and that don’t believe in it in line. Democracy supplies the people with the guidelines to their freedoms. If you want to reach whatever you may desire you have to abide by the guidelines in order to receive the final result.

-Eric Nelson

Keeping the Balance

Democracy is necessary to keep balance between the good and evil in people. It is set up to allow basic freedoms to all human beings. Through that, democracy allows people to have more flexibility in their lifestyles. However, it employs a checks and balances system that keeps people who have bad intentions from coming into to much power. A democratic government is the best form of government to allow its citizens to grow and socialize, while also keeping our more devious side at bay.

Democracy's Balance of Good and Evil

I agree that democracy is desirable for the capability of good for the people and evil keeps the need for democracy necessary. In the world there are so many countries without democracy and evil takes away their rights. Democracy is necessary to give the good a chance to have a voice in how they want their country's issues to be handled. Democracy is always desired by the ones who deserve it because of their innocence and their desire to choose what they want. Democracy is brought from other nations who have embraced it to countries in need of help to free themselves from a tyrant or dictator.

Phil Mickelson Cheating

This is a bit of old news but I thought it was pretty relevant with everything in the world of golf going around surrounding Tiger Woods. About a month ago Phil Mickelson was accused of cheating by a few of his fellow players for using a club that was almost 20 years old but was still technically legal because of a loophole. Now with Tiger Woods out of golf dealing with his stuff Mickelson is easily the most recognizable face of the sports and is pretty much the main guy with Woods out. Granted he wasn't the only one doing this as a few other players were also guilty of using the same club but I thought this was somewhat big news considering everything Mickelson does is going to be scrutinized even more with Woods out. Phil was quoted as saying "All that matters is it's ok under the rules of golf". In light of all the attention this got Mickelson took the club out of his bag and everyone has already seemed to have forgotten about it, still funny how so much drama can go on in the world of golf.

NFL Blackout Policy

NFL policy dating back to 1973 is drastically diminishing fan base. By rule, NFL will not broadcast any game in its home market not sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff. In these current economic times the NFL should be looking for a way to gain fans not punish them for not being able to afford a ticket to their favorite teams game. If fans can not see their teams perform what can we do to draw a crowd?

Computer Hacking Warrant Issued for Tour de France Cyclist

2006 Tour de France cyclist Floyd Landis was issued a warrant recently because he was believed to be part of a computer hacking attempt. He was stripped of his title because he tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in his system. Then a security breach took place in the lab and the computer information was gone. The computers were searched by officials and a Trojan horse was found in the system and had stolen all the information. The IP address of the virus was linked to Landis's coach which denies being involved in the breach. This article shows how something so simple as a lab info in any sport can be stolen and can be used to hurt or help anyone. Landis and his coach could get into serious trouble if convicted.

The American Dream

Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness is simply the American Dream. Its is certain that the majority of our population are direct descendents of immigrants. So at some point in time our ancestors made the greatest decision to better the lives of their families by pilgrimaging to the land of the free. So many people would sacrifice anything including their lives just to be able to raise their children on American soil. This birth right to freedom is something so many of us spoiled Americans take for granted. But how do we know any different?

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness offers people a chance to live a life which you are free to make your own decisions for what makes you happy. It gives people the right to succeed in America and rely on themselves. Although, no positive outcome is guaranteed the right still remains. No matter what ethnicity and or sex everyone is entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is one of the many things that make this country so great.

America's Oath

"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is one of the most famous phrases in the United States Declaration of Independence. It is considered by some as part of one of the most influential sentences in the history of the English language. These three aspects are listed among the unalienable rights of men. It outlines what America stands for and what we base our daily lives on. The words written many years ago will be fossilized in the remnants of history.

Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness

This phrase alone represents everything this country is about. Our four fathers wanted to instill into the mind of every american that they were guaranteed to have these 3 things. It's funny how many things were in the Constitution and yet how well this one phrase alone stands out. To me the pursuit of happiness represents everything being an american is, being able to pursue almost anything and everything you want to do. There are very few countries out there who guarantee you liberties and freedom as well as our country does and for that im thankful to be an american, im thankful to be able to pursue whatever makes me happy.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness..

These are not just simple words used in a blog post. They have meaning to the citizens of the U.S.A. and will always be a part of this country for many years to come. To me these words represent the life of freedom I have here and the right to choose how to use that life. It has known to be called the land of oppurtunity where anything is possible. The Statue of Liberty like the picture to the left represents those rights and freedoms that are lived everyday.
