Trade? Transfer?

Currently there are several issues with transfers within college sports. The NCAA
is well known for giving players issues with contracts via bylaws. These bylaws sometimes prohibit free student athletes from leaving at will, this often causes coaches to also be agents. Students at times have to let go of scholarships and aid. Overall, these bylaws need to have more clarity so that students are not taken advantage of:(

Bungie done with Halo?

After many years of Bungie dominating the Xbox gaming community with the Halo franchise they finally sold. One of Bungie's sister companies, 343, was given the rights to the amazing game series and everything Halo. On March 31st 2012 the final transitions from Bungie to 343 will be complete see the article here. Is this a good transition? Will we know the effects in the Halo games already released? I play Halo Reach occasionally and already we have seen the changes, and I am personally sad in the direction the Halo franchise is now headed.

Freaky Fish!

Seriously, it is disturbing how these fish are mutated! If fish are illustrating these kinds of mutations near mines what other issues are going to spring up? If fish are mutating this way I wonder what selenium does to minners? I feel like mining towns would be full of a zombie- frankeinstein population. On a serious note, if agriculture run off and mining have effects like this maybe legislation
and E.P.A. need to step up their game and just do it !

Ryan Braun 50 game Suspension for Illegal Substance Abuse Lifted by Third Party Arbitrators

Ryan Braun, MLB player on the Milwaukee Brewers, had his 50 game suspension lifted thursday by a third party group of arbitrators, after the only solid evidence had been "forgotten" in a FedEx office, tampering with the sample. His urine was to determine whether or not he tested positive for the Performance Enhancing Drug, however the mailer forgot the urine sample in the Fed Ex office for 36 hours, delivering it on monday morning, instead of the previous friday. This presumably contaminated the sample, making it useless. The MLB organization was not happy with the 2-1 decision in favor of dropping the charges, though Braun continues to insist that that he was innocent. The Federal Law that prohibits using PED's caught Ryan after tests showed he had a irregularly high testosterone level in his system. He continues to state that it was just an effect of something else, and he did not take any drugs. After appealing and being put under public scrutiny, the technical error by FedEx overshadowed the truth about his PED use, leaving him mostly unscathed. The reigning NL MVP is set to return to training camp on Friday, leaving the MLB party to shake their heads in disappointment.

The Kid

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ti-brown_gary_carter_mets_expos_memories_021612

Gary Carter to most known as the kid passes away at 57. He was traded 4 for 1 from Montréal to queens and was considered the savior of the Mets. He led the Mets to their first world series in 68 years. He was always considers a bright energetic person to be around. And was conducted into the hall of fame in 2003, six years after his retirement. I remember growing up how my own father use to tell my brothers and I to be more like the kid, to never give up and to keep a positive outlook even when we lost the game. This goes along with our motto of just do it in my eyes, not only because he is considered one of the greats but also because he did worked hard and kept a good attitude, and nothing says just do it then being the best and being loved and respected.

Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni takes a chance, unleashes Linsanity upon the world

Lets rewind two weeks. The New York Knicks were struggling, and star players Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony were both out of the lineup. After thinking of every option, Mike D'Antoni finally came up with a decision. He called up second year guard Jeremy Lin from the bench, hoping for anything. However no one expected what followed. Jeremy Lin started the next 7 games - his first 7, in fact- averaging 26 points a game, and 7 assists in each game. The results, 7 straight victories for the Knicks, propelling them back to .500 for the season. However there was much more. It was the first time a player of Asian ethnicity made this size of an impact since Yao Ming was in the NBA. He was being given nicknames such as Linsanity, a Linderella Story, and BalLin', just to name a few.
It was not just in the U.S. though. Overseas, Asia was beginning to find a new star, and millions of viewers tuned in to watch him play. Was the fact that he is Asian-American play into the global phenomenon? Perhaps, however the record breaking numbers, along with the continuous wins are the true reason that so many people are amazed. This only goes to show that when you have an opportunity in front of you, don't shy away, and just do it. You never know what could happen.

Pass the Dutchie... I Mean Ball

Pass The Dutchie...I Mean Ball

Pictured Right:
Tanner Brock, the leading tackler two seasons ago, defensive tackle D.J. Yendrey and cornerback Devin Johnson. The other player is offensive lineman Ty Horn.

The Sports group decided to go with the motto "Just Do It" Well these football players did more than that! Not only are they rated the top players for TCU they are also connected with major drug crimes within the college.

T.C.U Football Players Caught in Drug Sting
You thought all football players do is pass a football? Well apparently not! Wow, these prominent football players that attend a conservative college where caught  via a drug sting doing "hand to hand" selling of marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy. This honestly is not surprising but just illustrates how ironic and almost useless drug-testing is in colleges. Hey guess-what your amazing athletes are also the college's major drug dealers/ possible users! I'm not saying these guys are not talented at all. In fact, these guy are some of the top players for T.C.U and most likely HAD great futures in the NFL. Well the new uniform these college football players are going to "sport" is most likely stripes:(

NFL call out

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/rodney-harrison-calls-rob-gronkowski-dancing-super-bowl-225645166.html

After reading the article about Harrison and Gronkowki, I feel that Harrison has a point. It is a blatant disrespect from Gronkowki. I know that after I lose a competition the last thing I want to be doing is partying, let alone wanting to do a ridiculous dance, and y competitions are no where near as monumental as the Super Bowl. I feel that there is a certain respect for the game that has to be upheld. The game was here before him and it will be here after him. Football use to be about winning, respect and pride. Now the game is saturated with pre Madonna’s who don’t care about anything but the pay. Everyone makes mistakes but this one rubs me a true football fan the wrong way. Its about time for the NFL to get back to basics.

Return your season passes for the snow

Winter Jam Canceled Due to Lack of Winter
With A Lack of Snow and Cold Conditions many winter sports and competitions are being put on hold or canceled all together. In fact, temperatures are so warm in the Central Park Area that manufactured snow is not even an option for this event. This hits home for us living in California, who are usually able to drive less than an hour to snowboard.I guess avid snowboards should find another pastime... skateboarding or long-boarding.Officially, I regret buying a season pass to Tahoe! Well I guess board where there is plenty of asphalt!

Can he still do it? Tiger's quest to pass Jack Nicklaus, and cleanse his legacy in the process

Oh how we miss them. On a beautiful Sunday in early December, Tiger Woods put himself in a situation that we have not seen in what feels like ages. On the eighteenth hole of the final round, he had a putt to win the Chevron World Challenge in Thousand Oaks California. Viewers across the Nation held their breath, as he swung the putt through and watched the eight feet the ball traveled until finally dropping in the heart of the hole. The crowds exploded in applause, but more importantly, a one-legged fist pump, accompanied by a roar from Tiger as he collected his first win in over two years.
For the past decade, we have been accustomed to seeing Tiger Woods dominate the game of golf. He has become the face of the sport, and with it one of the greatest athletes of all time. Whenever the name Tiger was brought up, there was only praise that could be said of him. He was said to have the strongest mental attitude in the history sports. Only Michael Jordan could be brought up as the same level as him. It was simple- Win, or go home. As each of them approached a Major or a Playoff game, they already envisioned themselves winning, and projected themselves as the best of their sports. If they did not come out on top, it was a failure. Tiger was the definition of clutch, making more putts to win than one could count on their fingers.
However the past two years have been a serious struggle. Ever since that November night when he crashed his car, and was caught having an affair with his wife, Tiger has been a different person. His seemingly perfect reputation became heavily tainted. He was dropped from sponsors Gatorade, Accenture, Tag Heuer, and Gillette, with only Nike keeping him on board. He failed to win a tournament in the following two years, and for the first time in his career, missed several cuts. Whispers began to grow louder, "Is Tiger done?" The past two years were filled with not only speculation, but also injury. An achilles and knee sprain forced him out for another six months, with analysts suggesting that he may have won his last major.
Though now in 2012, a new year begins. Tiger is finally 100% health for the first time in almost a year, and has a new drive for victory. His goal is still the same as when he joined the tour, to become the greatest golfer to ever play, and although many critics believe he already is, he still must pass the magic 18 of Jack Nicklaus to truly cement his name in history. I believe that Tiger Woods is back, and will not give up until he has passed that mark. We all fight through adversity, and although it may have taken him a few years, the true Tiger has returned.
