No Fun League

The topic I chose to talk about for the midterm was that the NFL no longer allows celebrations after scoring a touchdown. I thought this applied a lot to the exercise of freedom and allowing the pursuit of happiness since regulating what you can and cant do directly affects those things. Granted this isnt a serious life issue or anything like that but its still a perfect example of peoples freedom of expression being regulated. I agree with some of what the nfl has said that it shouldn't get out of hand or anything like that but I know as a fan I thought it was really cool to see what crazy celebration could Chad Johnson or Owens come up with. One thing I think is funny is that they almost are biased about enforcing the rule, I'm a huge packers fan and we have something at the stadium called the "lambeau leap" in which whenever a player scores a touchdown they jump into the crowd. This is illegal under the new rules yet its never been penalized ever since it went into effect.

Ya know, I can agree with the lambeau leap. Its cool when its a players first time or if it was a big play because there is history and tradition in that. Its almost a right of passage for many receivers, especially the green bay ones. However, when I played football, my coach always told us to act like we've been there before. This rule is for T.O. and Chad Johnson pretty much and I think they are the worst players in the league. Not skill wise obviously, I just wouldnt want them on my team.

I think that football players should be Able to do whatever they want when they score a touchdown. I think it's part of the game when a team scores. I look forward to see what a player is goin to do after scoring and sometimes find it entertaining. Great article.
