Stolen Valor, Stolen Honor?

If I was in charge of making a ruling on this law, to make it illegal to falsely present oneself rank or act of duty, I would make it illegal. It is a slippery slope with the first amendment there is no denying that. But at the end of the day it should be more about respect than anything. There are men and women who give their lives to earn these medals, and it is utterly disrespectful to tarnish the valor they have been given. Especially just to move up in the political world/ company. The fact is pretending to be a war hero and accomplishing things you have not is harmful. It harms the actual veterans who support and fight for our country. “It belittles us, it makes me feel worthless. Like what I did was not really anything special” (SRG Hayden 3rd marine aircraft unit 323)
