Lets rewind two weeks. The New York Knicks were struggling, and star players Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony were both out of the lineup. After thinking of every option, Mike D'Antoni finally came up with a decision. He called up second year guard Jeremy Lin from the bench, hoping for anything. However no one expected what followed. Jeremy Lin started the next 7 games - his first 7, in fact- averaging 26 points a game, and 7 assists in each game. The results, 7 straight victories for the Knicks, propelling them back to .500 for the season. However there was much more. It was the first time a player of Asian ethnicity made this size of an impact since Yao Ming was in the NBA. He was being given nicknames such as Linsanity, a Linderella Story, and BalLin', just to name a few.
It was not just in the U.S. though. Overseas, Asia was beginning to find a new star, and millions of viewers tuned in to watch him play. Was the fact that he is Asian-American play into the global phenomenon? Perhaps, however the record breaking numbers, along with the continuous wins are the true reason that so many people are amazed. This only goes to show that when you have an opportunity in front of you, don't shy away, and just do it. You never know what could happen.

This is the classic comeback story that america falls for. Although its as heart warming as puppies and kittens, we have to separate the story from the player. Although he is averaging 26 points a game in this 7 game span, he's also averaging close to 6 turnovers a game as a POINT GUARD. Point guards are supposed to take care of the ball which he hasn't proven yet. So before everyone is so quick to jump on the bandwagon let's give him a couple more weeks and see whether or not he is for real.
it's just awesome how many different nick names this kid can have haha.
